Rebirthing breathwork group sessions in Muskoka.

What Is Conscious Breathwork?

Conscious breathwork (rebirthing breathwork) is a powerful approach to self-exploration and personal growth that relies on our innate inner wisdom and its capacity to move us toward positive transformation and wholeness. Acknowledging, accessing and supporting the inner healing intelligence and impulse in each individual is the essential cornerstone of this approach.

The process itself uses very simple means: it combines accelerated breathing with evocative music in a special setting. With the eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breath and the music in the room to enter a non-ordinary state of consciousness. This state activates the natural inner healing process of the individual’s psyche, bringing the seeker a particular set of internal experiences.

  1. It helps you release stress, trauma, anxiety and “stuck energy” from your body. This type of breathwork helps you access deeply repressed emotional energy that has been weighing you down perhaps your entire life. These blocks directly affect your thinking, the choices you make in life, and your sense of self. You may laugh, you may cry, and you may yell! Regardless, you will feel lighter and more free afterwards.
  2. It helps you connect with your higher consciousness in a VERY direct way. Releasing old energy is only half of the experience. During the other half, you will find yourself in an elevated state of awareness where you can receive direct guidance from your soul, higher self, and spirit guides.

During the ceremony, your brain releases DMT, which allows you to access these altered states of consciousness. In fact, you may not “purge” all that much. You might not cry or yell, but you may JOURNEY! You will receive counsel from your higher guidance system, which is equally profound. However, unlike a typical psychedelic experience, breathwork allows you to remain in complete control 100% of the time.

The session normally lasts for about an hour to an hour and a half, plus about 45 minutes for integration and sharing. All you need is a comfortable place to lie down, such as a yoga mat, a pillow to support your legs, and a blanket (participants tend to get cold or really hot during a session). A small pillow for your head can also be used as long as you can keep your neck relatively straight while lying down. Comfortable, loose fitting clothing that does not restrict breathing is always a good idea. Also, it is recommended that you do not eat a heavy meal or consume any alcohol or caffeine before the session.
